On a budget and need a whole new wardrobe?

So I'm changing my style but the issue is that I'm on a budget of $284 give or take 20 bucks. The $284 is for everything make-up,clothes,shoes, accessories. My question is do you have any tips besides shopping in sale racks.

Thanks

Since you don't say what sort of style you want makes this a little tricky.

Start with the basics, like a black skirt, and add a simple blouse or top - any style or color. Next find another skirt, or pants, to go with the top you chose. Add a sweater or jacket. Keep mixing and matching as you go, but always look for things that work with what you already have.

Do some 'window shopping' online, before you hit the stores. Most places have websites, so you can get an fairly good idea of outfits you want to find before leaving your house. Print out pictures and take them with you as reminders of what you are looking for. Websites can also lead you to what's on sale. Always good for stretching your budget.

Leave some of your money at home. You shouldn't spend all your money at once, and you won't be as tempted to buy that "I just gotta have it". Think twice before making any purchase. Ask the clerk to hold your selection(s) until the end of the day. Then hit more stores and do the same thing. After making the rounds you can go back and decide if you really need or want those things. I've found that if I'm not sure about making a purchase, it helps to walk away, if only for a few minutes. If the item keeps calling me back, then I'll get it.

Avoid 'trendy' clothing, as they can sometimes limit your choices of what goes with them. Beware of anything that "all the girls are wearing" or "it's so cute!" Set your own style, and stick with what your need. When you head out shopping, take a friend who understands your mission, and who will keep you on track.

Good luck!
Reply:Try thrift stores and consignment stores. People give up all kinds of awesome stuff just because they grew out of it, got tired of it, or whatever. My personal fave is Plato's Closet: http://www.platoscloset.com/

Don't know if they're any near you, but they're great. My husband and I got two shirts for him, three for me and a great pair of boots for me for $40! Hope this helps!
Reply:right.... you need to buy some basics, black pants, skirt, jeans, few plain ts and then accessorise!!!!!!!!! loads!! lol this means that you can change your look with the season an not cost too much.
Reply:Charity shops - its vintage darling...

Try ebay you could sell your exisiting things and pick up a few bargains

With make up try mixing the sets you already have to get new shades etc

We have dress agencies where they sell second hand clothes/shoes etc you no longer wear but have to be in good/excellent condition and no one would know their not new.
Reply:get good jeans 3/4 or skirt and go to big w or k mart get a fer cheap tops and do it all up with jewellry and make up get 1 good foundation and go to the warehouse or reject shop for eye shadow maybe check out some op shops or ebay i you can get good make up cheap on ebay brand spankers! hope this helps just gotta accessorize
Reply:Online shopping is way cheaper. If you go to walmart.com they have free shipping to a local store. Also there is the obvious choice of going to second hand stores like Goodwill or Salvation Army. I got a brand new suit there, a kenneth cole purse, nine west shoes and the whole nine yards. It's best to go to one near a ritzy neighborhood. As for accessories, Claire's boutique always has a rack that is 10 items for 5 dollars. Make-up you can get wet 'n wild and it is just as good as the name brand. That is the only thing I use and it is dirt cheap. Also, for shoes you can go to Payless. They have an awesome selection and the shoes are already cheap but most of the time they have buy one get one half off sales and now they sell American Eagle shoes. Also, you don't need a whole lot of jeans, just a bunch of different tops. When you buy your accessories, try to match them up with several outfits, that way you don't have to buy a lot of different accessories just to match with every outfit. The goal should be to make the maximum amount of outfits with the minimum amount of clothes. Hope I helped and happy shopping!
Reply:try to earn some money that you can spend. when you go shopping you wont have to look on the sale rack even though they have cute stuff there sometimes, just find stuff that is cute, but cheap. GOOD LUCK!
Reply:Target TJ Max Wal Mart and any after xmas sales check your local news paper
Reply:Pick your basic neutral color (s) and work around that. Get simple (for example) pants and a skirt. Keep it basic and use accessories to jazz things up.

Please consider the thrift stores. You can get some absolutely beautiful, high quality items for a song and a dance.

Garage sales in the rich people's neighborhoods are great also. I've seen Gucci, Neman Markus etc go for under $1.00.
Reply:i shop on ebay for alot of my stuff as you can pick some bargins up on there
Reply:buy it over time
Reply:First go thru all the stuff you have there may be a lot that you can peice together or alter a bit before you go buy new stuff. As for makeup you prob already have the basics, eyeliners ans shadows and blush, maybe just apply it different. There are a few stores by me that are trendy and inexpensive: Target, forever 21, urban outfitters, h%26amp;m, and check out blufly.com too! good luck have fun!
Reply:Make-up wil be last expense.

Go to thrift stores, second hand stores, consignment shops. Talk to people you know who wear this style and se if you can buy/barter for some pieces you need to make the look work. Purchase 2 main essential pieces first, then build around it, check sales racks, etc. Check with stores on close out mark-downs at end of season.
Reply:This time of year, the Salvation Army has some really nice stuff. I am not joking. People get clothes for Christmas, and they need to make room.
Reply:primark is chap and has great clothes enter compatitions to win a shopping spree get clothes what your family and friends dont want anymore
