Is Singapore expensive? What kinds of things are good to get there?

I want to get clothes, bags , shoes, accessories but was told it is quite expensive. Coming from Australia.

Hi there, if you are thinking of coming to shop, come from end May till july. We are having our Annual Great Singapore Sale! Even the local ladies cannot wait to go and do their shopping. This period is when all stuff in shops gor for discounts, country-wide. So it will not be expensive. Especially electronics, computers and branded designer wear.


If you are into more shopping, from Singapore, head to Thailand for the Grand Thailand Sale, June till Jul. Bangkok will be good with shops and department stores offering huge discounts.


I you still have the appetite for more shopping, swing over to Hong Kong for their Hong Kong Annual Sale. It is famous for designer wear at huge discounts.

Reply:accessories are quite expensive but the place makes up for all that.better not buy jewelry from there.bags and shoes-go for leather.if u buy those they ll be good in quality,almost the same price everywhere and will last long.

Reply:Singapore is a free port. So you pay very little sales tax. But property prices are passed on to the purchase price.





I got a lot better bargains in Kuala Lumpar.
Reply:The things in singapore could be expensive but the quality is far better and worth it to buy..such as electronics things like X-box games that will more cheaper compare to your country..alot of tourist came here to shopping..there's also some budget places that u can go in singapore...try ur luck and enjoy ur staying in singapore
Reply:yes it is expensive for asia, better go thailand instead where everything is cheaper, the food is great, the people are friendlier and great beaches too.
Reply:Compared to Australia the stuff is just slightly cheaper but electronics is one thing you won't be taking a risk while purchasing in Singapore. Other than that you'd be better of getting what you want in Thailand or Indonesia that house the factories of the big brands. They've got good imitations on most items and also found a few really cheap bargains at the factory outlets. Malaysia is almost as pricey as Singapore these days so go slightly further and save more on each item you purchase.

If you have the time take a quick trip to Kuala Lumpur and you will get much better value approx, 4 times the ozzie dollar, the quality is really good and the choice is excellent. By all means have a good look around Singapore but with what you want to purchase, and if it was me, I would get either the train or a bus to Kuala Lumpur it's so close and you wouldn't be disappointed.

Reply:In asia, Singapore is much cheaper then HK, Korean and Japan. But more expensive then Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
